Hosting a blog or website

Ever thought about hosting your own blog or website? Sure blogger is good for a free blogging service but you can do so much more with paid hosting. You might be saying, "yeah but you're using free hosting. What gives?" Well I have had this blog for many years now. I don't want to give it up but I do pay for hosting to host my other blogs. The Playboy template I have here is hosted via the the server space I pay for. Keep that in mind that if you want to offer digital downloads you have to pay for hosting. It doesn't cost much to buy server space to host a blog. I buy my server space from Web Wizards

I have discovered a site that posts good deals on the net. It's called "my deal trends" Check it out. It's not the best website for deals out there but give it a try. You might find something there that isn't on one of the biggers sites like deal news or woot.

Digital vs. Film

When I write about Digital Vs. film I don't mean to knock down one medium over another. I know the granddaddy of photography is film but the advancements in digital photograhpy are simply amazing! There many things you can do with Digital now, why would you want to hassle with film? Yes I know that there is a technical aspect of film photography if you develop your own film but just think about the money your saveing, the time your saving, the ability to look at your picture and adjust right after you take the picture. Everything perk that is digital photography I am digging!

Photo industry braces for another revolution

We already know that Polaroid in 2007 was no longer manufacturing cameras and by 2009 will stop manufacturing film. (from wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polaroid_Corporation)

Digital is killing traditional film. Things change and I think we should embrace it! I used to use film SLR back in high school. Now I own a Digital SLR and, it's made things sssooooo much easier!

Floating People Photographs

Recently I have been fascinated by photographs of people that look like they are either "floating" "levitating" and defying gravity. I've been digging a little deep to find out the exact technique for taking pictures like this. I have seen a few tutorials and in Flickr I've also been readin a little bit of photoshop mods with the cloning tool. I really want to get to the bottom of this technique. I think it is awesome.

Just one problem, some of these photographs you can clearly see they are just jumping, some are also jumping but it doesnt seem like it and others use a small stool to chair and remove it with photoshop. Can anyone share or point out where I can learn these techniques? Here are some samples of the photos I am talking about with the proper link credit to the people @ Flickr.

In this following photograph you can see they are clearly jumping....anyone can capture this moment. No secret there. Good picture though:

As you can see, these photos are very impresive....to the person that doesn't know the method. But if no one helps me with this, I will figure it out. Kudos to the Photographers that were able to pull this off! I love it!!

Playboy Cover Questions and Answers

Recently I was contacted on my myspace page and asked if I could do a playboy cover for someone. I politely declined. I would love to be able to help people make a cover but I just don't have the time for individual requests. I know that photoshop is a very expensive program but you can always get photoshop elements. It's about 89 bucks (shop around online, I'm sure you can get it even cheaper)

Don't think for one minute that photoshop is complicated. It's not. You make a layer and you work with it. It's almost like using paint but with premium tools. I have already provided for you the psd file. The rest is up to you. I won't lie, there is a slight learning curve but once you get started in photoshop it's all downhill from there. Don't be scared to try it out. Once you learn it you will wonder what was really so hard about it!

Look at the Amazon widget on the left hand column. They have both Photoshop Elements for Windows and Mac. Very excellent products.

Humming Birds

I have always wanted to photograph humming birds but the thing is....when, where and then those suckers are FAST!!! But when I went to my uncles house in Altadena, he had a humming bird feeded set up and these are the pictures that I got. I know that this posting is not within the topic of photography but I've been in LOVE with this woman since I discovered her modeling back in the days when Imports Cars was the thing. The Playboy Cover!

A few years ago, I did some very amature photography work. The best work I've done so far was of my very good and best friend Brandi. So a few days ago I decided to work on something for her because she's moving to Las Vegas soon. Here check out this neat little thing I did for her with photoshop elements and a picture I took of her.

This is pretty cool. Notice the California theme for all the "articles" on the cover. And for those of you San Diegans, notice the "Reviews" section. I think you might recognize some of these bars. So enjoy! Let me know what you think!

On the night of May 19, Earth's Moon and the planet Venus were visible in the same part of the sky, and at closest approach were less than one degree apart. What kind of Camera do you own???

I just want to ask about what kind of camera you have.

I own an Canon Rebel dSLR. 8.1 megapixel. I'm exclusive to Canon. Although I don't have on other cameras and I know brands like Nikon and Minolta are also good.

What kind of camera do you use to catch those special moments in life? Moments that you capture that inspires you creativity? Moments in time that cannot be replicated?

Digital vs. Film

Ok everyone of my readers, and all you photographers out there, what is your presonal preference and why? Would you rather shoot in digital, or in film?

I used to shoot photographs in film back in high school (1995) but since switched to digital. Very convenient, less money to spend on film and let stuff to carry.

Do you choose one over the other? Do you use both? Any advantages or disadvantages of one over the other in your opinion?

I love Digital I'll tell you that. But I don't hate film one but. I just hate the hassle.

Lightning photography

On July 16 and July 17 2006, San Diego had very unusual weather. It was so humid that we actually had lightning storms that lasted for hours each night. And me as an amateur photographer loved it!

The following are some photographs of those two nights. These photos are far from spectacular but given the position I was in, I think I was at a safe location for these shots and it was still an amazing experience!

San Diego Bay Photography

So today I was in downtown San Diego and I decided to take a stroll to Coronado Island. I had my camera and tripod so I decided to stop and take some photographs. Granted there are not the best because I hod a small time frame. I didnt have time to take my time But here is the first picture.

This picture is of the peer where people catch the ferry to go to Downtown San Diego.

Today was very windy and cloudy. I was hoping it wouldnt start raining.
